Register for Early Start Program

Get a head start this summer!

The Cougar Scholars: Early Start Program is for incoming CSUSM students who want to transition early and begin their first year requirements of successfully completing their GE courses in English and/or math. This low-cost or free program (depending on your FAFSA) gives you the chance to build your skills early, so you're ready for success when the semester begins — and stay on track to graduate on time.

Classes are held in-person at CSUSM during the summer, starting in June.

How to Sign Up

1. Login to your account.
2. Go to your Student Center and look for the “Cougar Scholars: Early Start Program” section.
3. Follow these instructions to sign up for classes in the program.
4. Once enrolled, your classes will appear on your Student Center home page.

Cost & Fee Waiver
California residents who have submitted the FAFSA and have an Student Aid Index (SAI) of $6,000 or less may be eligible for a free or reduced course fee. If you qualify, it will be applied automatically after you register for the course.
