Grant Writing Bootcamp: Summer 2025

The OGSR Grants and Contracts Development team and Faculty Grant Support Fellow Dr. Denise Garcia are offering the Summer 2025 Grant Writing Bootcamp

The goal of this program is to provide faculty with time and support to write a proposal for external funding.  This upcoming Summer Bootcamp will be open to all disciplines and funding agencies. The expected dates of the bootcamp are from July 28 – August 15, 2025. Those accepted into the bootcamp should expect to spend around 9 hours a week in meetings/programming and work on their proposal and peer review the rest of the time. Participants will be expected to submit a proposal to an external funder within 12 months and will be paid up to $1,500 for their participation at the end of the bootcamp. This bootcamp will be mostly virtual with an in-person meetup after Fall 2025 semester has started.

ELIGIBILITY: This call is open to all faculty across all disciplines who plan to submit a proposal and can confirm their ability to attend the workshops and fulfill the writing commitment.

Preference will be given to faculty who have not served as Principal Investigator or Project Director on a major grant and to those who have not received GPSM funding in support of the proposal. Those who are preparing to revise and resubmit an unfunded proposal are also encouraged to apply.

Lecturers are eligible to apply as Principal Investigators if they are on a 3-year contract. Those not on 3-year contracts may apply as Co-PI along with a tenure-track faculty member. See PI/Co-PI eligibility guidelines on our website: /gsr/faculty/policies.html

Applicants may receive a follow-up request for clarification after submitting the application.

DEADLINE:  Wednesday April 30th, 2025, at 5 pm.

Decisions will be announced in early May. Applications are reviewed and chosen by OGSR staff and Dr. Denise Garcia and are evaluated on Merit, Fundability and whether they have received previous internal or external funding such as other grants, GPSM, etc.

APPLICATION:  Submit by email a one-page project summary (i.e. including an overview of the project and the significance of the proposed work in connection to the sponsor’s goals), a current CV, and links to potential funding opportunities you are considering. We realize that grant funding is in flux right now so feel free to choose a few options for yourself. If you need assistance finding suitable funding announcement, email Liz Bell.

Please contact Liz at ebell@csusm.edu with any questions and to submit your documents by the deadline.
