MANAGEMENT
Throughout the month of gAyPRIL (April), CSUSM will celebrate the queer community through a series of events. Our events are centered around educating the campus community and celebrating CSUSM's queer community.
Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan. The Stonewall riots were a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that queer individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. At CSUSM we celebrate Pride Month in gAyPRIL (April) to catch all the fun before the end of the semester.
The Pride Center and the Cross Cultural Center will be hosting Queering the Map on April 17 in the Pride Center from 4 PM - 6 PM. This event centers on queerness around the globe, sharing queer stories and culture outside of just the United States. This event will primarily facilitate discussion among the attendees, with a puzzle piece decoration to encourage students to share their own stories and knowledge with their peers!
The Lavender Celebration is an event that is held to recognize the CSUSM graduates from the Queer Community! We hold this event at the conclusion of the Spring semester to give the graduating class the recognition they deserve for the hard work they have put into earning a college degree!
