Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

What is WUE?

Imagine the possibility of studying in beautiful Southern California and only paying a fraction of our out-of-state tuition! California State University San Marcos is excited to be part of the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE, pronounced "woo-wee") program. CSUSM offers students the opportunity to further their education and broaden their horizons beyond the boundaries of their home state. The WUE discounted tuition offers non-resident students from states in the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) the opportunity to qualify for a reduced tuition scholarship which saves you *approximately $8,424 in tuition fees a year! Students who qualify may enroll at 150 percent of resident tuition. California residents are not eligible to apply for the WUE discounted tuition at CSUSM.

*Estimate costs and savings based on 2022-23 academic cost of attendance. See current WUE Cost of Attendance for updated costs and savings.

Tuition fees are based on 15 units per term. All CSU fees listed are estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the CSU Board of Trustees.
